Why should you join EUROAVIA and establish a new Affiliated Society? If you are interested in aeronautics and space and if this is your field... But you wonder what's more to it. You want to actively contribute in an European cooperation between aerospace students... So you should join us! Joining EUROAVIA is quite easy. However, it requires a lot of responsibility. Keep this in mind!
Procedures for joining EUROAVIA as an Affiliated Society

Before proceeding, consider taking a look into the dictionary if you have some doubts regarding the vocabulary within Euroavia.

  • Fill in the document underneath. Also make a plan on how your group sees the future, how you will manage the students to be active in EA, how you see your budget in the next couple of years. The document must not be long, it is the content that's important. The plan is the link with the future: a long-term strategy for your group and AS in the future. With this plan you can show us that your group can manage important problems and it will point out that your group could be a good and lasting one in Euroavia, one with a bright future. Send all these documents no later than 1 month before a congress to one of the IB member.
  • Be present at the next congress, you will be asked to make a presentation about the university, studies, city, and local or national aerospace industry.
  • After the voting of the congress, acceptance is granted as Prospective Affiliated Society. This status shows that the Prospective Affiliated Society is recognized as a member of EUROAVIA. According to the Statutes, a Prospective Affiliated Society does not have the same rights as Affiliated Societies.
  • A Prospective Affiliated Society must organize an international event within one year of its acceptance as PAS. It can be a fly-in, beach-in, symposium, etc..
  • The acceptance as full member can be granted in the next Annual Congress (AMEAC) following the international event.

It is advisable and helpful to know the internal structure of EUROAVIA and its Statutes & Bylaws. Relevant information can be found at other parts of our website.
Underneath you can find the relevant extracts from the EUROAVIA Bylaws:

  • Applying for membership is done by signing an application form, containing the obligation to adhere to the EUROAVIA Statutes and Bylaws, and sending it to an International Board member no later than four weeks before the meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress.
  • At this meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress an introduction of the university to which the society is related and the structure of the education shall be given verbally.
  • This group shall also, together with its application, propose its further member designation (form: EUROAVIA XYZ-city [optional: quarter of the city and/or name of the university]) which by acceptance of the application by the meeting is confirmed.
  • Acceptance of the application by the meeting is done with an absolute two-third (2/3) majority vote. The EUROAVIA Congress may postpone the acceptance of the application to the next meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress with an absolute two-third (2/3) majority.
  • The EUROAVIA Congress in turn is obliged to define during the same meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress a project for the prospective affiliated society. The prospective member shall work on this project for one year and then present the obtained results. The project shall not fall under Working Group regulations, but shall be treated as a local project. During this year, the right to use the name EUROAVIA XYZ-city [optional: quarter of the city and/or name of the university]) is granted temporarily.

  • If granted the full status of member is postponed the prospective affiliated society can call itself affiliated society XYZ-city only. However, it can act on behalf of EUROAVIA if it is in accordance with the Statutes and Bylaws.
