  Congress Meetings

The Congress is EUROAVIA's legislative body. Two meetings are held every year: the EMEAC (Electoral Meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress) and the AMEAC (Annual Meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress).

  Fly-In
An EUROAVIA fly-in is an event organised by one of our Affiliated Societies. It is usually a one-week event for 10 to 30 participants. The participants are members of the Affiliated Societies of EUROAVIA.
The program of a fly-in can consist, among others, of:
  • Visits to companies, aerospace research centers, military air bases, etc. Usually one day long, they provide opportunities to establish contacts, speak with professionals and get in touch with what complements the often theory-oriented university education;
  • Lectures. Usually held by professionals from the aerospace field or professors, these lectures deal with various topics from aerospace history to current developments;
  • Parties and social events, because EUROAVIA is not just about aerospace education, it is a great place to meet people and have plenty of experiences.

  Cultural Exchanges
Jumping in Pisa...Halfway of August 2002, two AS, being AS-Leuven and AS-Roma, had the first part of their bilateral cultural exchange. The IB wants to promote the cultural exchange next to fly-ins. The cultural exchange could differ from a Fly-In on the following points:
  • A cultural exchange is between two AS. The AS are responsible themselves to make contact with other AS to agree about the exchange;
  • The number of people participating in this kind of event should be limited;
  • The participants could be housed at the places of the hosting AS members. This way the accommodation expenses can be reduced;
  • There should be a not too formal organisation in order to keep it simple and to allow more cultural interaction. (e.g. searching for sponsors, setting up an hour by hour program).
The main aim of this event is to exchange cultural habits while having fun. This sort of event requires very little effort, time and money to organize. This could be a solution for AS who are not in a situation to find enough resources (e.g. sponsorships) to have a fly-in.
  Symposia
An EUROAVIA symposium is an event organised by one of our Affiliated Societies and is quite similar to a fly-in regarding the duration (1 week) and number of participants (10 to 30). However a symposium differs from the fly-in by it’s technical/educational program.
At a symposium the main part of the program is formed by:
  • Lectures;
  • Workshops;
  • Hands-on sessions;
  • Company visits.

During the weekends there is also some time for some tourist visits.

  Design Contest / Design Workshop

The Design Contest is a competition among all interested European students (not only aerospace students) on a specific topic. Winners participate in the three week Design Workshop, during which they work in truly European teams on demanding projects, usually preliminary studies of aeronatical or space projects.
