The Formation Workshop is EUROAVIA’s internal training event. The main goal of the Formation Workshop is to increase the quality of EUROAVIAn operations. Whether in organising international events, maintaining a local board, or even motivating members to be more active. The Formation Workshop is the proof that EUROAVIA is a solid association with a tradition since 1959 but determined not to fall asleep on this. EUROAVIA wants to become a reference as a European students association, with the same purpose as always since its foundation.
EUROAVIA has been pursuing its goals since 1959. Knowledge has been passed on from generation to generation of board members. Somehow, the prestige and organisational know-how of being a EUROAVIAn is present in each member.
Nevertheless, EUROAVIA suffers from the same problems as any students association. The high rotation of the board members is one of the most critical.
EUROAVIAns are technical students, running an association doesn’t usually come up as one of the subjects in an Aerospace engineering degree. From the moment a member becomes more and more active, he/she starts becoming aware of particularities that only experience can give him/her. Indeed, some knowledge can only come from experience. This is the unteachable part of running an association.
However, there are many small and relevant aspects of running an association that can be taught. By inserting these concepts in an early member’s life stage, who will eventually be a part of a local board, a working group or the International Board, their performance will, no doubt, increase extremely.
At the Formation Workshop, the concepts transmitted are essentially procedures. Most of them come from experience, like organising International events, the dangers and traps that usually come up. Others are actually standard procedures like making a balance or the necessary documentation of a local board.
